ABOUT

„Notebook Songs“ is Kevin Meißner’s first studio album and was produced between December 2020 and May 2021 and was released on May 28, 2021 via distributor recordJet as part of a compilation of various works written down by the artist. The collaboration with violinist and artist Stefan Löwe helped a large part of the track list to his success.

Notebook Songs consists of 8 songs in total. Among them, works with classical elements and string arrangements can convince, as well as modern pop music sound diversity captivate the listener to the genre-spanning song collection.
Kevin Meißner himself describes his music as experimental and finds it difficult to classify his compositions into different genres.

The track „Polar Bear“ deals with climate change and the melting of the poles at the North Pole. It is supposed to show the man-made climate problem and to make the listener think about it. Further clarifies this also the Official Music Video in the drawn style.

Originally it was planned that Sarah Siekmann, who shines with her voice in Kevin Meißner’s single Heavy Wings, also takes over the vocal performance for „Golden Clouds, Burning Trees“. However, the line-up had to be changed at short notice due to some disagreements.

Within various recording sessions, the production series could be completed and forms the conclusion of a period of the artist’s life.

Added up, the album release reached a total of 21,829 Spotify streams within the first year.
This represents an extreme success for the newcomer artist and motivated Kevin Meißner to release his second studio album „A Little More Less“ in 2023.

WHAT DOES THE ARTIST SAY ABOUT THE ALBUM?

„It must have been sometime in September 2020.

I was an office worker at a local company in my town and felt like I was going in circles. I lived in an apartment in the south of Leipzig.
At the time, the entire corona pandemic was stressing me enormously and I felt lost in an endless loop of work and watched my life pass by me.

So at the beginning of 2021 I ended my way too badly paid employment and used the time, to find myself again by figuring out what life really means to me and which levers I have to set in motion in order to be happy.

While I could slowly let go of the things that were making me dissatisfied and more or less holding me back, the music gave me stability as I was free to express my thoughts and feelings without restrictions. All it took was a piano, a halfway working DAW – and a clear head.

For me, Notebook Songs simply symbolizes breaking out of my own ever-shrinking hamster wheel.“

GOLDEN CLOUDS, BURNING TREES

Golden clouds and burning trees
Hold the fire
I used to be
The one you love
Or the one you leave
Oh I wish I could set you free

Golden clouds and burning trees
Hold the fire
I used to be
The one you love
Or the one you leave
Oh I wish I could set you free

My back against the door
Your words they let me bleed
The ink adorns the wall
We face eternity
Another single shot and I fall on my knees

Golden clouds and burning trees
Hold the fire
I used to be
The one you love
Or the one you leave
Oh I wish I could set you free

Golden clouds and burning trees
Hold the fire
I used to be
The one you love
Or the one you leave
Oh I wish I could set you free

We fly on our own
