ABOUT

„When It Lit Up In May (2026) is the fourth studio album by composer Kevin Meißner after Notebook Songs (2021), A Little More Less (2024) and Between Us And Them (2025). Like its predecessors, it impresses with melancholic felt piano sounds paired with soft ambient synthesizers and minimalist beats. The album contains eight tracks and was written and produced by the musician himself. Some tracks, Equals, Heilig and Overwinter were composed several years ago but never saw the light of day. In When It Lit Up In May they get a remaster and a stage. There is a common thread running through the work. Meißner is inspired by nostalgic ambient beats from artists such as Antent and Øneheart.“

WHAT DOES THE ARTIST SAY ABOUT THE ALBUM?

„I’m currently in a phase of my life where a lot of things are changing. In your late twenties, you simply have a different view of life than you do at twenty-one. Finances and planning security, full-time employment and balancing friendships, relationships and family. You handle everything in a more adult way than you did a few years ago. So I guess that’s growing up. One of the few constants in my life is music. So I decided to produce my fourth studio album. This one brings out both old works and new ideas.“
